Chile continues to triumph as the best tourist destination in the eyes of experts. This time Lonely Planet, one of the most recognized travel guides in the world, with more than 145 published editions, distinguished our country with the first place in its collection “Best in Travel 2018”.

The travel guide that offers content in more than 14 languages ​​and has more than 13 million followers on social networks, published the expected collection of the 10 must-see destinations of 2018, with countries that should be on the list of wishes of each traveler, and where Chile is at the top of this.

Prize that also has a double triumph, since Chile is the only South American country highlighted in the list, and is located above world tourist icons such as South Korea, Portugal, Djibouti, New Zealand, Malta, Georgia, Mauritius, China and South Africa .

“This distinction is great news for Chile, reaffirms the successful work that the Government has done in the field of International Tourism Promotion, positioning our country as a must, not only in South America, but worldwide. This is demonstrated by the figures of arrivals of foreign tourists during 2016 that we beat a historical record in the arrival of 5.5 million foreign tourists,” said by the Undersecretary of Tourism Javiera Montes.

The annual selection of “Best in Travel of Lonely Planet” -which goes in its 13th version- is a process that involves the most experienced travelers of the travel guide, considers hundreds of recommendations of places and considers such criteria as news, novelty and surprise factor to decide what to include in the inspiring travel yearbook.
